The Pagoda Dogwood is a good plant for a partial shade area (that means it will need some sun but also takes shade). The Pagoda is named because it branches are horizontal and tiered. You have seen them if you have been out and about this past June - they are gorgeous tree growing 15-25 feet tall. It takes a few years to get started as it establishes its root. After that about 2 feet per year. It needs a well-drained soil and will live in zone 3-7 – so I am thinking that you folks in Rangley and surround areas also might benefit from this tree. Below is a photo of it here at Blue Vue Plant, 586 West Side Rd, Weld, ME. I have 19 of these right now $12.97 each – I have snagged one for myself already and plan to plant it in my landscape as I have been totally captivated with them these last couple of summers when I have seen them in my travels. I have also placed in the same box here at Blue Vue some new small Red Prince Weigelas. They are beautiful starts and have 8 of them there with another 20 probably coming in a couple weeks. Price on the are $9.97 – same as usually. We are moving into the second half of our summer – so make sure these get watered well at the ROOT level for the next couple months – make it a point to catch me and I will talk to you about a way to make sure you are getting water to the roots for new shrubs, bushes and trees. Remember – self-serve, cash, check or Venmo. No cover – so come dressed for the weather and being outside. This is a farm. Open all daylight hours. Thousands of plants (and many weeds I am working on conquering). Photos below are the Pagoda Dogwood and Red Prince Weigela in the boxes. Theu are in the newest area – go to the Red cart that has dirt. Walk straight toward the rock wall til you you get to the last row. Walk up the last row and about 5 box before you get to the end. Hopefully that will help make the “Easter” egg hunt easier!

New truck delivered some annuals, few veggies and herbs. I got some LARGE barbecue rosemary which are priced the same as the annuals at $7.99 - great for adding to your barbecue meats! I received 4 11" calibrachoa bi-color assorted hanging baskets $23.97) and 20 10" hanging baskets ($15.00). I have 6 beautiful geraniums as well as 8 gorgeous zinnias. I have also added at the stand 8 each of the Hibiscus Luna Pink Swirl, Pulmonaria nova Cobalt, Helenium Fuego and Euphorbia Polychroma perennials in the long box that is behind the annuals. I will be potting more and putting them in other places at Blue Vue Plants. Remember - self-serve, cash, check or Venmo. Okay tomorrow at 8:00 a.m. I have another truck coming from Jolly Farmer with 24 10” hangers, some more annuals, parsley, tomatoes, sage and rosemary. No cukes – couldn’t get them. He should be here and gone quickly as it is just one rack. So, two specials to take note of.

I have a beauty bush in my perennial bed. It has now grown to about 10’ x 10’ feet from the time I planted it as a wee baby. It is covered with blooms and has a draping effect. It is one of my favorites! While working the other day in my propagation bed I found 14 of these – all in varies sizes and many blooming. All priced at $9.97. This is a one time invite to anyone interested and reads this within the next 12-14 hours. At 9.00 a.m. tomorrow June 11, 2026 I will have those 14 in my yard here at the house and I invite you to come see the mother plant and all the butterflies that are swarming it. The 14 plants will be here available for sale – first come first pick! This will be a 15 minute event and yes you may drive down as the dog will be in the house barking at us! This is not an invite to walk and check out everything – it is to get a visual of the plant and the size it can grow to and the effect. So, at 9:15 all cars must return to the road – to either continue shopping, to pay for the plant they got or whatever.

Besides the new plants from Jolly Farmer, I also received a new order from Creek Hill in PA – and forgot how beautiful their plants are. I have potted up 8 of each and hopefully will get them moved up to the road and put “somewhere”. Below you can see a photo of the 4 TAGS of these plants – and all of these will be priced at $12.97 each.

Please do not come early – I get grouchy! So, this is Blue Vue Plants at 586 West Side Rd, Weld, ME – cash, check or Venmo. Bring your phone to keep track of your purchases. Remember self-serve. Yes, I do talk to folks – but always cognitive that when I am talking plants are not being potted, pruned or countless other things. If I hire someone to help my prices will double or more!

Well, the truck with all the hangers, veggies, herbs and annuals came on May 20th to 586 West Side Rd in Weld Maine for a delivery to Blue Vue Plants - but you would hardly know it - thanks to all you. I am pretty well cleaned out. Might have 25 or so hangers still, few veggies, herbs and annuals. I have placed another order. It will come in sometime the week of June 8th. I have 20 more 10" hangers priced at $15.00 each - 5 varieties with 4 each of them. A couple veggies and some annuals. The photo you see here with this post is a batch of peonies I have just finished potting up and getting to the road. I have also delivered another load earlier. I will have a couple more loads to finish potting and getting them to the stand - most peonies are prices at $14.97 - but do have a few specialties priced higher. My yellow peony trees are priced at $45 and and looking pretty nice - I think I saw one with a bud on it even! Remember we are self-serve - open all daylight hours. Yes Blue Vue Plants at 586 West Side Road, Weld Maine is stocked with hanging baskets, annuals, veggies and herbs - as well as everything else - perennials, shrubs and fruit trees - thousands of things to delight your landscaping projects. The truck is gone - the plants are out for display (if you check the previous post from last night you will see I had stripped everything out in preparation so it was "naked") - but now it is fully stocked. Note on veggies, herbs and some annuals are in six packs. They are a unit. So veggies and herbs six packs sell for $3.97 and are starts. This is a new promotion and pricing will probably change a bit next year. Annual six packs are $7.97. These are both "starting" stock and a bit smaller than the regular annuals, veggies and/or herbs. Looking for response to buying in six packs for a fixed priced vs singles at a fixed price. Remember self serve - cash, check, or Venmo. Bring your phone to keep track of purchases. Cash box and QR code on table at the stand. Open all day light hours til mid Oct.

Well, if you look at the photo of the Blue Vue Plants stand at 586 West Side Rd, Weld ME you would think totally sold out – but NOT! All perennials moved out to be potted and put into the plant bed boxes – all at $7.97. However, that was to create space for the plant truck delivery that is coming bright and early tomorrow a.m – May 20, 2026. They say 8 a.m. This truck will have the annuals, veggies and herbs as well as the Hanging Baskets. Just a reminder if you come while the truck is here please stay away from the delivery. Those racks are tall and very heavy. Typically, we take about 2 hours to unload and get the plants in place and ready for sale. Remember this is self serve – cash, check or Venmo. Bring your phone to keep track of the cost of your purchases. Tax is included in the pricing. We are open all daylight hours 7 days a week through mid-October. Once the truck leave I will post a couple photos as well as “The truck have delivered and is gone”!

I put out 4 new yellow peony trees a few days ago - yep they are a bit pricey - $45. But they have spent this past winter in the pot you see them - and they are coming up. Do NOT cut them back in the fall. They turn woody and will get 4-6 feet tall - hence the "tree" title. I have a few red and purples ones that have been with me at least one winter. Just a reminder that next week is the week BEFORE MEMORIAL DAY. Memorial Day comes the earliest it can this May 2026! So with that my truck is coming with the hanging baskets, annuals, veggies, and herbs. I do not have an exact date but typically it is Thur or Fri (May 21 or 22). Once the truck has unloaded, I typically post "The truck has delivered" post - so if you follow me should get a notice from Facebook! Remember Blue Vue Plants is self serve - cash, check or Venmor. Cash box is at the stand. Bring your phone to keep track of your purchases and outside gear - rain coat if raining, bug spray if black flies out (they are coming), sun screen. Remember this is a "farm" as classified by the State of Maine - so there is no "flat" walking. But plenty to see! Two photos below - one of the Yellow Peony Tree and the other is the coupon that is in the April issue of Turner Publishing papers. The April issue has the coupon and I know Franklin Focus is one of the papers as well as my article.

Well, today is April 25, 2026, and my day took a turn when my trusty golf cart suddenly refused to work. I tinkered with it for a while before deciding the battery was likely the culprit. It’s a gas‑powered cart, but it still needs a battery to start. I’ve had that cart for seven winters, stored indoors but in the coldest of cold Maine weather, and it has never once been on a charger or trickle charge. It has always run, since the battery isn’t heavily stressed once the gas engine takes over.

I headed over to my kind neighbor, Tom Wheeler, and he loaned me his trickle charger. While that situation sorts itself out—and with several days of rain in the forecast—I went ahead and stocked the plant stand with the first offerings of the season. Even without the open sign or the road signs up yet, I’m still declaring: We are open.

I have three varieties of everbearing strawberries at $3.97 each or 3 for $10.00.
The perennial sale is back as well: small perennials that will be bumped to larger pots after mid‑May and sold for $7.97—but right now, in the small pots, they’re $7.97 today. And as last year, if you buy 10 of any varieties (about 10 kinds available), the total is just $50.00.

I also have a few bleeding hearts out (more in the greenhouse) at $9.97.
Beautiful tomato plants—rugged Red Beefsteak heirloom tomatoes—are $4.97 each, limited supply, with only a few out right now. Protect them carefully; frost will kill them fast. I’ll move a few more out Monday or Tuesday.

My head is a bit rattled from hauling plants around in the car instead of the golf cart and from not having eaten yet. I’m in the middle of cleaning, so please bear with me—it will get there, only to be done again as usual. I’ll be using the leaf blower, so if you see me, keep some distance; there’s a lot of grit in the air.

Remember, this is a farm, officially classified by the state, so natural hazards are part of the landscape. Come visit often—new things arrive all the time. The Thursday and Friday before Memorial Day will bring the veggies, herbs, annuals, and hanging baskets. I’ll post when they arrive.

It is April and life is stirring around Blue Vue Plants at 586 West Side Rd, Weld, ME. Blue Vue Plants has been in business since 2009 – so 2026 starts its 18th year. Grown from paper sign and some small hosta for thousand of annuals, veggies, herbs, hanging baskets (all come in right around Memorial Weekend – usually the Thur or Friday before) PLUS perennials, shrubs and fruit trees. Just added some potted garlic – grow you own! Today I was outside most of the day or in the greenhouse. On Tuesday I took delivery of fruit trees and some perennials. Many of the perennials will be potted up and available the first of May as the special we had last year – most of the them sell normally at least $7.97 but for this select group you can do mix and match and purchase 10 for $50.00. Perennials for you who are just getting into gardening come back year after year – sometimes only 2-3 year but many for several years. Hostas and Echinaceas are example of perennial.

Today we will highlight the fruit tree shipment that just arrived. The photo is a few of them just out of the boxes and sitting waiting to be potted. We have the following:

Reliance Peach
Zone: 4–8
Description: A remarkably cold-hardy freestone peach specifically bred to withstand harsh winters. It produces medium-to-large fruit with a dull red blush over a yellow-green skin, offering a sweet, mild flavor that is excellent for fresh eating, canning, and freezing.

Elberta Peach
Zone: 5–9
Description: One of the most popular commercial peaches in the world due to its high productivity and firm, yellow flesh. This freestone variety features a classic peach flavor with a slight tang and is recognized by its golden-yellow skin covered with a deep red blush.

Bartlett Pear
Zone: 5–7
Description: The standard for North American pears, known for its iconic bell shape and skin that transitions from green to clear yellow as it ripens. The white flesh is exceptionally smooth, buttery, and sweet, making it the preferred choice for both fresh consumption and commercial canning.

Kieffer Pear
Zone: 4–9
Description: A hardy and vigorous hybrid variety that is highly resistant to fire blight and tolerant of various soil conditions. The large, crisp fruit has a coarse texture that mellows when stored, making it ideal for preserves, baking, and canning.

Honey Crisp Apple
Zone: 3–7
Description: Renowned for its exceptionally crisp, "snapping" texture and well-balanced sweet-tart flavor profile. The fruit features a mottled red skin over a yellow-green background and is highly valued for its long storage life and versatility in both snacking and salads.

Santa Rosa Plum
Zone: 5–9
Description: A premier Japanese plum variety that serves as an excellent pollinator for other plums. It produces large, round fruit with deep purple skin and rich, honey-like amber flesh that is tinged with red near the skin, providing a complex, sweet-tart taste.

All are priced at $25.97 each. They will be potted up and put out into the area where all the other fruit trees are (end of the new section for those who have been here before) in the next few weeks. There are other varieties of fruit trees from previous years also.

Just a reminder to all – this is a “self-serve” stand. That means you wait on yourself. If I am about and you spot me, you can ask directions or questions – but remember I am the only one working here. There is a parking area right off the 586 West Side Rd on your LEFT. So cash, check or Venmo. I should have a QR code in place you can scan and pay. Cash box is at the stand. Remember to bring your phone so you can keep a running tab of your purchases. And all weather clothes – this is an all outdoor adventure in shopping – as gardening should be!
