The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky

A #1 New York Times best seller for more than a year, an American Library Association Best Book for Young Adults (2000) and Best Book for Reluctant Readers (2000)

#2 most challenged book of 2025, it faced 33 challenges.

In previous years, various school districts and groups banned it for:
🚫 drug use
🚫 profanity and being sexually explicit
🚫 LGBTQIA+ content
🚫 bad role models for teenagers
🚫 religion

✍️ Saturday marked our first ever book signing event!

Pastor Steven K. Parker’s book, “Getting the Church Inside You: Balancing Faith and Action” is both heartfelt and moving, while also being practical and honest.

Attendees enjoyed a meet and greet, speaking to Pastor Parker one on one, listening to an excerpt reading, participating in a Q&A discussion, and of course, getting their books signed!

Thank you to our community, Weslaco's Daily Grind Coffee, Teas, Pastries, and to Pastor Steven Parker and his wife, Lisa Parker, for a wonderful event!
