🪵 Every great woodworking project starts somewhere, and many begin with our team at Hoppe Tree Service. 🌳

When a tree needs to be removed, Hoppe Tree Service safely handles the job and identifies logs with the potential to become quality lumber. From there, we take over at The Urban Wood Lab, milling and kiln drying the wood to prepare it for its next purpose.

The result? A tree from your own property could become a custom table, mantel, shelving, or another one-of-a-kind woodworking project.

🌳 Have a tree that needs to be removed? Ask if it's a good candidate for milling.

🪵Freshly milled wood isn't ready to build with just yet.

Before a slab can become a table, shelf, or countertop, it needs to be kiln-dried. This process removes excess moisture from the wood, helping prevent warping, cracking, and shrinkage while creating more stable lumber that's ready for woodworking.

Benefits of kiln drying include:
✔️More stable lumber
✔️Less warping and cracking
✔️Helps eliminate insects

🌳 Not every tree needs to end up in the chipper.

Through our milling and kiln-drying services, The Urban Wood Lab salvages urban trees and turns them into usable lumber. Instead of becoming mulch or wood chips, these logs become one-of-a-kind materials for furniture makers, hobbyists, and local woodworkers.

♻🪵 We're proud to play a role in keeping more urban wood in circulation and out of the waste stream.
