The AMA hosted a banquet to feature two legends of aerospace: Burt Rutan and Dan Kriegh. Burt founded Scale Composites and hired Dan as an engineer to develop some of the coolest airplanes such as the Long EZ and Voyager (first airplane to fly around the world w/o stopping or refueling.) Also, they developed SpaceShipOne (first privately funded spaceship to reach space.)
I was excited to meet them in person and show them my unique aircraft, StarFlux. I had a brief moment to explain to them how it is a reversible airframe that flys on the POWERUP 4.0. They thought it was pretty cool!

I designed this paper airplane to fly on July 4th! It’s called the Æther Vector and it flies great on both POWERUP 4.0 (smartphone RC) and POWERUP 2.0 (capacitor free flight!). So much fun!

At the AMA National Fun Fly, I was happy to visit briefly with a good friend, Nate, from the TheRcSaylors. Nate has reviewed hundreds of RC aircraft, so we flew a paper airplane I designed for the POWERUP 4.0 (just for fun in the spitting rain!) Sometime you just gotta seize the day even while Mother Nature is watering her beautiful globe garden! 😝

While in Milwaukee representing POWERUP at ASTRA (a specialty toy trade show), I had the pleasure of meeting Dr. Michelle Thaller, a former NASA scientist. She’s an astronomer and a great science communicator. While spending hours manufacturing products, I like to listen to science & astrophysics podcasts that feature extraordinary people like her. What a joy!

Thursday we were fortunate to meet many members of thegoodtoygroup at the Their PlayPalooza Day in Milwaukee. We represented PowerUp Toys and showed the members our newest balsa airplane the Faraday Flyer.

While descending on a Southwest flight through clouds, I captured this pic at night. No filters; just a long exposure. The flashing red and white plane lights light up the scene. Maybe the coolest pic I ever captured. Amazing!

We were excited to have Shai Goitein (CEO and founder of POWERUP Toys) visit our HQ. Our business relationship is growing as we continue to collaborate on manufacturing efficiencies and product development!

We competed again in the Outdoor NATS competition for HH Catapult Gliders. The weather was damp and windy. Overall, Brad finished 9th and Bruce finished 16th. Maybe next year we make a DLG and also try Hand Launched? What a blast!

Kyle Boyer is an amazing inspiration to paper airplane designers around the world. I have noticed his talents 4 years ago and I’m pleased to see his channel, Foldable Flight, has grow to 300k+ subs! AMA interviewed him today and it is worth a watch!

I love this short video. Because it shows Ross Clements struggling to trim his AMA Cabin. I have featured Ross before as a brilliant kid who is going places. This vid shows that obtaining a new (and long outstanding) record is not easily obtainable. With his hard work and dedication, he did get it trimmed to perfection that day and set a new record which will stand for decades! Good job Ross on your spectacular achievement!
