Grateful Hearts Creations

Grateful Hearts Creations I also carry Brittany Birch knitting needles and crochet hooks. We shear our own animals and process our own fibers.

I am a dealer for Schacht Spindle Company (spinning and weaving equipment), Valkyrie Supply Company (combs, hackles and Turkish drop spindles), and The Merlin Tree (Hitchhiker and Roadbug spinning wheels). I teach fiber arts workshops in shearing, processing (combing, flick carding, etc...), spinning, weaving, knitting, crochet, etc... Cricket Club (rigid heddle weaving) meets here monthly. I will

also do custom work for clients including: combing, spinning and finished items. Call for appointment or visit on Friday evening.

If a "Murphy's Law" existed for shepherds, I think it would go like this: a ewe you want to breed cycles on the most frigid morning of the year and the ram you want to breed her to is in the furthest pasture from her.....

I am sharing this photo of 4 years of yarn from our Shetland wether, Levi. His yarns are from left to right: yearling, 2nd, 3rd and 4th. He was dark brown at birth and remains moorit, technically, though his fleece has lightened each year. I truly enjoy our Shetlands and the variety of colors, shadings, and markings!!

On a similar note - there was much rejoicing on my part on 7/22/2020 as I completed the combing of the last of my stash of fleeces since 2015😃 I looked through my log book of fleeces and counted 60 fleeces that I have processed in the past 13 months (Anna processed 5 more for me during that time, too). This included 13 camelid fleeces which are faster to comb but I am still counting them!!! Now I will be spinning, weaving, knitting and crocheting (and sewing) until next Spring when I have the 2021 fleeces to process.
