Honest confession: one of my absolute favorite weeks of the year is always the Howard County Fair. The spotlight on local agriculture and the farming community that is the heart and soul of Western Howard County, the delicious food from local vendors, the questionable rides, the wholesome atmosphere that reminds me of simpler times- I love every aspect of it.
As a kid in 4-H I would enter crafts and baked goods each year, as a teenager I would roam the causeway and ride the rides with friends until they kicked us out at closing time. After almost 20 years away from the area during early adulthood, I now return each year with my own family to relive my youth and embrace the community I once again call home.
I truly can’t think of a better way to end each summer.
