The Carolina Reaper has been dethroned as the world's hottest pepper. Ed Currie who created the Reaper has now created Pepper X, which has finally been certified by Guiness as being 3x hotter than the Reaper which clocks in at 2.7 million Scoville Heat Units (SHU).
Only five people, including Ed Currie, have actually eaten Pepper X.
"I was feeling the heat for three-and-a-half hours. Then the cramps came. Those cramps are horrible. I was laid out flat on a marble wall for approximately an hour in the rain, groaning in pain."
