2/22/26 - COVID Alert. Any customer who came into the shop last week (Wed 2/18 -Sat 2/21) might have been exposed to COVID. Symptoms start with sore throat and post nasal drip but its not a head cold and appears to be highly contagious. Please test if you develop any of these symptoms. Looks like Bari picked it up from a gig on the west coast last weekend but it took 4 days to manifest. Unfortunately, the entire shop is now sick.😳😨Bari

11/24/23 update: Back at shop full time and feeling great. The strange sequence of events that resulted in having an aortic valve replaced 8 weeks ago now seems like a blip on the radar.

Many thanks to the team at JFK Valve Clinic for their great work and to all of our customers for supporting me and the shop over the past couple of months!

We've decided to keep the Wed thru Sat shop schedule (closed Sun,Mon,Tues) as it seems to be working out for us at this point. May re-evaluate after the first of the year but for now will have a 4 day week for customers. Note: we are closed Thurs-Tues this week for the Thanksgiving Holiday.

Hope all had a great Thanksgiving. Amongst all the chaos in the world, there is still much to be thankful for! Bari ♥️

Unfortunately there’s been a disturbance in “The Force” as it relates to heart valves.
Here’s the latest update as of Sat 9/16 from my on-deck wing at JFK Cardiac Unit.

All test results are in and agree that there is a major issue with my aortic valve and it is in fact in a very critical state right now. All else is AOK, no other artery issues/blockages etc. Hard to believe but then again, I’ve been accused of being an alien in what until now has been a somewhat “age defying” body.

Looks like valve replacement surgery will happen on Tues 9/19. All prayers, meditations, positive energy is very much appreciated.

In the mean time, Ron, my husband and the amazing group of folks (including Shaun) who have helped make the Amp Shop & Music Parlor what it is, have picked up the ball to keep things running.

Days have been shortened as have hours to the following: Wed-Fri Noon-5pm, Sat Noon-4pm, closed Sun, Mon & Tues until further notice.

There may be a few hiccups but bear with them while I’m out of the helm. Be kind and have patience as they might, at times, have to unravel the mysteries on “Bari’s desk”.

Shaun, our long time employee of 15 years, is flying the coup to take a “bucket list job” with US Fish & Wildlife Service. Besides being a radiant personality in our shop for many years, Shaun is an avid outdoors woman who hikes, fishes, kayaks and volunteers in various bird counts and eagle watches throughout the year.

She will be remaining in the area but you’ll have to make a trek to Arthur Marshall National Wildlife Refuge to see her new digs. Shaun’s last day at the Amp Shop & Music Parlor will be Friday 11/18. Stop by before then if you’re in the area to bid her farewell. We’ll miss her and we know many customers as well as their kids and dogs will miss her too! Its been an awesome journey for all of us. Just sent a personal email to our commissioner, Dave Kerner and a separate email to the entire board of commisioners. Also made a phone call to Dave Kerner's office (My district's commissioner). Am hoping that other folks will take the initiative to make their voices heard. Sitting in place and hoping for the best is not a viable plan if you agree that the Ag Reserve area should not only be preserved but expanded. Bari
