A Short History of Our Company

We started out with a vision of producing high quality, expertly crafted bridles. We did not begin with a price range in mind, but searched out the best leathers and hired the most skilled craftsmen to come up with a superior product. When we were satisfied with the results, we priced it out to see if it would have market viability. Thus, Hadfield Bridleworks was born.
The next step was to test the products. How would they stand up in the trenches? With feedback from riders, trainers and grooms, we tweaked and improved the products over a five-year period. The results speak for themselves. Today, our bridles are in every major hunter barn in the USA and our jumper bridles are the choice for top riders worldwide. Hadfield bridles are the standard. Chances are, if an A circuit judge is putting a blue ribbon on a bridle, it is most likely a Hadfield.

Crafted by our expert staff in the U.K. with the finest Sedgwick Leather, this bridle is designed for your training purposes. Saving your show bridles for showing. Although as understated design, the bridle is built for strength with ⅝” cheek piece that buckles. The reins are rubber with buckle bit ends.

We at Hadfield's Saddlery have long been fans and admirers of Nick Skelton and we were thrilled to see his amazing story told on film in the documentary "Big Star: The Nick Skelton Story." Whether you are a horseperson or not, this fascinating account of Nick's legendary career and his very special bond with Big Star is exciting, inspirational and often deeply touching.

It is so impressive to see how Nick's lifelong love of horses, passion for excellence and incredible fortitude and determination forged one of the most remarkable careers in the history of equestrian sport: 7 Olympics with Team Gold in 2012 and Individual Gold in 2016, both with Big Star; 7 World Championships; 11 European Championships; and 16 World Cup Finals, to name only a few.

Competitions aside, perhaps Nick's greatest victory was his truly heroic recovery from a devastating, potentially career-ending injury and return to the highest level of show jumping partnered with the exceptional horse, Big Star, who made the dream seem attainable.

It was a joy to watch Nick and Big Star compete - show jumping at its most beautiful and exciting. The world saw brave and brilliant riding on a noble and exceptional horse. One might imagine that Nick and Big Star were destined to come together, and that with perseverance and passion The Dream can come true. Thank you, Nick, for showing us that it is possible to overcome even the seemingly insurmountable.

Hadfield Bridleworks was inspired to create a jumper bridle for Nick. He had admired our ultra-stitched hunter bridle and suggested that we make this luxury edge-stitched bridle in a figure 8 style for jumpers. Thus was born the HBW-212 Ultra-Stitched, Figure 8 bridle worn by Big Star in both the 2012 London Olympics (pictured here) and 2016 Rio Olympics. Not only was Nick a winner, but so was our bridle. We are forever grateful to Nick for choosing Hadfield Bridleworks.

You've come a long way and are still going strong. We have always admired your impressive talent, style and determination from your early years with the great Simba Run to your brilliant victory at the 2025 Rolex Grand Prix of Dublin on Bisquetta. You are a wonderful representative of our sport and our country. Congratulations from all of us at Hadfield's and best of luck going forward.
