This week I went live on Whatnot for 540 minutes and sold 552 items with an average profit of about $10 per piece. That is roughly $5,520 in gross profit generated in just nine hours of live selling. 🤯
People always ask me why I lean so heavily into live selling instead of only listing on Poshmark or eBay and the answer is simple… Whatnot is a FAST nickel over a slow dime.
Could I have made more per item listing each piece individually? Probably. But let’s talk about the time reality. Photographing 552 items, writing titles, researching comps, drafting descriptions, measuring, listing, sending offers, relisting stale inventory, packing single orders day after day… even at only 5 minutes per item you are looking at over 45 HOURS just to get those listings live. That doesn’t even include the weeks or months waiting for buyers.
Instead I moved 552 pieces in 540 minutes. One week. Inventory turned into cash quickly so I can reinvest, keep momentum, and keep my business moving forward.
There is nothing wrong with eBay or Poshmark. I still use both. But Whatnot changed the speed of my business. It rewards consistency, community, and volume. The goal isn’t always squeezing every last dollar out of an item. Sometimes it’s about stacking small wins faster and letting that momentum compound.
If you’ve been stuck listing endlessly and feeling burnt out, maybe it’s time to rethink the model. Speed matters. Community matters. Reselling can be a very isolating job. Going live on WhatNot a few times a week brings community to me and it’s honestly very good for my mental health! When will you make the jump and change your life?
