If you do not feel comfortable with the inspection, as always have it performed by a qualified gunsmith. Backroads Tactical has a gunsmith on staff that can perform the inspection.

DESCRIPTION OF THE HAZARD: Smith & Wesson has identified a condition where the trigger bar pin could damage the lower trigger in certain M&P Shields in a way that may affect the functionality of the drop safety feature of the fi***rm, potentially allowing the pistol to discharge if it is dropped.

IMPORTANT SAFTY IMFORMATION FOR ALL M&P SHIELD OWNERS, PLEASE TAKE THE TIME TO READ!!!

Smith & Wesson has identified a condition where the trigger bar pin could damage the lower trigger in certain M&P Shields in a way that may affect the functionality of the drop safety feature of the fi***rm, potentially allowing the pistol to discharge if it is dropped.
This safety alert applies to all M&P Shield pistols manufactured before August 19, 2013. They believe that this condition is largely limited to recently manufactured M&P Shield pistols. However out of caution all consumers of all M&P Shields manufactured before August 19, 2013 should immediately inspect their pistols for this condition.
Your fi***rm must be inspected to determine whether it exhibits the condition identified in this notice. To determine whether your fi***rm is affected by this condition, please inspect your fi***rm following the instructions available at MPShieldSafetyAlert.com. If you are uncomfortable conducting the inspection please bring your fi***rm in for one of our certified armorers to conduct the inspection.

PLEASE DO NOT USE YOUR FI***RM UNTILL IT HAS BEEN INSPECTED AND, IF THE CONDITION IS FOUND, REPAIRED.
