We’re thrilled to welcome Sybil Knight to The Velvet Spine on Saturday, September 26th from 12–3 PM! 🥀

Come meet Sybil, chat with the author, and pick up a signed copy of one of her books. Books will be available for purchase at the event, or you’re welcome to bring your own copy to have signed!

Meet Sybil Knight

Sybil Knight is a dark romance/ horror romance author with a passion for broken characters. Because broken people deserve happily-ever-afters too.

Her subject matter ranges from gray to pitch black, while each of her female characters is strong in a different way. Whether that be physically, mentally, or emotionally. Because Sybil is all about female empowerment and badassery.

When she’s not writing, Sybil is obsessed with talking all things true crime with her two besties

🕯️ WELCOME TO THE VELVET SOCIETY 🕯️

A book club for readers who prefer their stories a little darker.

The Velvet Society will have two completely separate chapters:

🩸 THE HORROR CHAPTER
For atmospheric, disturbing, terrifying, and unforgettable stories. Our first pick will be Slewfoot by Brom.

🔪 THE THRILLER CHAPTER
For suspense, mysteries, psychological twists, and books that keep you guessing. Our first pick will be Tell Me What You Did by Carter Wilson.

Each chapter will meet once a month, typically on Thursday evenings, and both will be intentionally kept small to encourage engaging discussion and give everyone a chance to participate.

Because we want to make room for as many readers as possible, we’re asking everyone to choose ONE chapter to join initially. These are separate clubs, so please select the chapter that interests you most when signing up.

If your chosen chapter fills up, you’ll have the option to join the waitlist, and we’ll reach out when a spot becomes available.

After our first month, club members will get to vote on our next book pick, with a selection of options provided for each chapter. 📚

✨ Sign-ups open tomorrow at 7 PM! ✨

The registration link will go live on our website, along with more information about each chapter, what to expect, and all the details you’ll need to know.

Meet Layne Deemer

Layne Deemer aims to push boundaries with her writing. Her stories deconstruct the ordinary until it becomes something else entirely.

She has a degree in Communications with a minor in English and has worked in the fields of public relations, marketing, and advertising, but writing has always been her true passion. When she isn’t writing, she’s reading. Her wish list of books will take her a lifetime to get through.

She resides in Pennsylvania with her husband, Adam, their two kids, Stella and Jasper, and their four bunnies. Frayed, a psychological thriller, is her first novel.
