No, we aren’t doing a screening, but this is your reminder that in 48 hours (see what I did there?) we will be wrapping up the Boss hang out event.

In my defense I meant to do something far more clever today but I got busy and here we are. Stop judging me.

Wednesday, 4-7, big fun. Deals on things. Free things. Solid good times with good people. See you then.

No, I’m not posting random “guitar guy” stock images, that’s a picture of Boss clinician Austin Syndick who will be joining us at the store for a hangout low key “let’s mess with some Boss stuff” sesslon a week from today from 4-7. Will there be free stuff? Yes. Will there be a special 50th anniversary Eclipse shirt that I’ll be giving away with certain purchases? Also yes. Deals and specials? NEVER oh wait just kidding, also yes.

Consider this the (very) belated kick off to celebrating 50 years of Eclipse doing this exactly our own weird way, with more events and swag and strange ideas to come for the rest of the year, and further.

June 17th, 4-7. See you there. (Trust me, you’re going to want the shirt.).

New pedal day from vongonelectronics is always a good day, and the Rosetones is no exception. It’s a polyphonic string synth generator with enveloped triggering, feedback that allows for anything from quick stabs to infinite pads, a deeply synthy and unique tilt tone control, modulation choices on tap, and a brilliant octave slider that allows you to chose where the generated tones happen, from sub lushness to unison and upper end semi harmonic content. Instant soundtrack ambience, punchy fat synth drones, and more. Fantastic, and in stock.

New pedal line alert! Joining the patented wall o’ pedals, we’d like to welcome thornsoundlabs! Designed in Nashville and popping up in many pedal videos, I’ve been stoked to check these out and they do not disappoint - hyper controllable drives that don’t flub out at higher gain settings, Fuzzes that swing across a much more wide spectrum than you would expect, tight high gain monsters, and even a drive for my often neglected bass pals. Throw in a great sounding trem and a two stage boost with a parametric peak/cut control, and you’ve officially got my interest. In stock, big fun, come try, etc. see you soon.

Oh hey, it’s the last day to vote for a music store in this, which would be a pretty awesome thing for you to do if you’ve got a few minutes (hint hint).

Thanks y’all!

Vote once per day from January 31 through February 25.

Well, it’s been a little while since we launched a new pedal line at the shop, so get ready to say hello to seamoonfxpedals. Pleasantly bass centric for my oft ignored low end pals, but also pretty fantastic on guitar, keys, and so on as well. Ranging from thick blendable drive to super sub octaves with fantastic tracking, an ultra tailorable chorus vibrato and their most famed pedal, the Funk Machine, which is one of the most articulate and fantastic sounding envelope filters Ive ever come across. USA made at a sub $200 price point, and seriously impressive for sure. In stock.

I had a few people reach out, because they worried our initial post might have been vague about why we are closed tomorrow. Let me be extremely clear. Picture not just to bend that dumb algorithm, but because my dad was awesome. Posted on our website.

As many of you know, we are located in the Twin Cities metro area in MN. I've been salty (hopefully in an amusing way) in the past about when people say "Minneapolis," they generally mean the larger metro area, but it's less amusement and more correction right now. We are all experiencing what the world sees as "that thing happening in Minneapolis" to varying degrees, throughout Minnnesota.

I stand firmly with my neighbors and our community... especially now, when we are called upon to look out for each others' safety, rights, and dignity.

We are a small business, and have been here for 50 YEARS -- this year. I had planned to start celebrating that fact at the beginning of this year, but this is not the time to celebrate. I look forward to the chance to do fun, cool (probably somewhat weird and maybe slightly stupid things) in honor of being able to carry on this odd but wonderful idea my father launched. In good conscience, I have not, and will not do that until this occupation is over.

My father, an orphan who found his family in the Marine Corps, started this crazy musical journey with a legendary Minneapolis coffeehouse (The Scholar, for the curious. look it up.) One of his proudest moments was refusing to allow Federal troops to bivouac and land helicopters on their roof. They assumed that he was an easy get, because of his history of service, and were met with the sort of uncompromising (and for them, knowing my dad, extremely uncomfortable, forceful and somewhat profane) reaction those of you who knew my father might expect. Not because he wasn't a patriot, but because he was the best version of patriotism. My efforts pale in comparison, but I'd like to think he would be proud of me, and all of us in this moment, in Minnesota.

We know a thing or two about what community means, because we are PART of it. My family lives in this city, minutes away from my store. I have lived in this state for my entire life. One thing is clear - I (we) cannot stand idly by.

Closing on a Friday is not an easy decision for any small business. I want everyone, in particular, to think of the small businesses that are immigrant owned, that have made this difficult choice. I'd also like you all to think about the chain businesses that have the capacity and funding, to easily withstand this moment, and choose not to. If Amazon joined us, for one day, Jeff Bezos would not have to make hard choices about what to do when his bills come due. Please take a moment to consider that when you go back to shopping on Saturday, and in the future.

So, now that i've had my chance to rant, we are standing in solidarity, closing on Friday, and re-opening on Saturday.

Eclipse Music will be closed on Friday January 23rd. Be well and be safe.-John
