Hi:) this is Vlada. I want to tell you a story of the beginning of Red Wooden Flag. It was winter 2014, we moved from Ukraine to New York, we were waiting for our son to be born soon, I came up with this little painting as a present for my husband after the baby is born. At the same time my friend Polina and I were thinking about collaboration project to start together. So we decided to make illustrated postcards and this little painting became our very first greeting card, printed on the inkjet printer. And at the same time I was lucky to receive from my husband a special birthday gift - red wooden flag. It was one of those flags from the construction cite fence next to my studio in Kyiv, Ukraine. That winter in NYC was tough for me, I missed my friends, my studio and those lovely flags, also I was pretty scary to become a mom. The funny thing was that my husband actually brought to the states two flags. That Flag was like a special link connecting me with my Ukrainian world and Polina (later she got her Flag by mail) . @ New York, New York
