Federal Mahogany Sideboard, New England

Rectangular top with crossbanded edge over straight edge with double line satinwood stringing. The case features a bowed central cupboard section with conforming double doors [inlaid] flanked by two box drawers [inlaid]; one fitted for liquor compartment. The case is supported by straight tapered legs with conforming inlay and applied knee brackets. Front drawers and sides with satinwood stringing. Period oval brass pulls.

A finely joined molded and louvered example featuring removable panels with carved finger-notches behind screens allowing for free flow of cool air while remaining decorative and preventing birds and other animals from entering the home via a chimney without a damper. Very old 19th century off-white paint over original green; very good condition commensurate with age and use.

New England Harvest Table, Original Red Painted Surface

A elegant country expression featuring comfortable dining dimensions including a 12-inch overhang at ends. The drop leaves are held in open position by swing-bars that don’t interfere with seating. Aaron Dean Fletcher [1817-1902], Portrait, Boy Holding Watch on a Chain
Probably Vermont

This portrait of an unidentified boy speaks to Aaron Dean Fletcher’s earliest oeuvre [1835-1837] when the artist was working in Vermont and usually painted a plain, drab olive background. Fletcher is known to have painted at least one other boy holding a watch around the same time.
