Lord, prepare a way for you?
I have a lot of work to do!
Lord, help me prepare a way for you to enter my home:
Please help me find a place, a room, a corner, a chair
where God and I can meet every day to pray.
Maybe I'll put a candle there, with a Bible;
can be a statue or a painting; Rosary or prayer card:
something to mark the place where the child holds
to go to each day, to sit and rest, to take a deep breath,
to remember Your presence and open my heart to You in prayer.
Lord, help me prepare a way for you on my calendar,
one “appointment” per day;
even just ten minutes for you and me to meet,
to talk about the day of life, its ups and downs,
and to get to know each other a little more than yesterday.
Lord, help me prepare a way for You to enter my thoughts.
When I try to calculate everything, please pull me out
for God's guidance and direction;
give me your Spirit and your wisdom,
when you decide and choose.
Lord, help me to prepare a way for you,
in your family and among your friends, at work and at school,
in your parish and in your neighborhood.
Help me prepare a way for you to enter my heart
of lonely people around me.
Lord, help me to prepare a way for you,
in the hustle and bustle of Christmas all around you.
Help me remember that it's God's birthday
and that God will receive some gift from you.
Help me to remember the poverty of the nativity:
please use your wallet and spend it generously
for those whose needs are much greater than your own.
Help me to remember that all the gifts I can receive,
There is nothing greater than God's love for you.
Lord, help me prepare a way for you
Let God come into my life definitively.
In the peace of my prayer,
Please help me clear the way for You to enter my life, into my heart.
Lord, in the silence of my prayer,
help me to see you as you walk towards me
and show me that no matter what barriers I put up,
God will still find a way to come, to get in
and to fill me with your presence. Amen.
