Akua Angel Online was created by dancer and world traveler Akua Angel. Akua was born in Kingston, Jamaica and raised in London. Being immersed in the art scene in Europe in the sixties, Akua had the opportunity to perform on Britain’s first pop music show, Ready Steady Go. On this stage, Akua performed with Otis Redding, Tina Turner, Rolling Stones. Akua would go on to model and perform in Paris and tour in all French speaking countries with French pop icon Claude François. Performing worldwide as a Claudette, Akua was one of the first black women in the sixties and seventies to be featured on the pop stage and can be seen on French TV today. Not only does Akua have a legacy of her own, she is the sister of Junior Marvin of Bob Marley and the Wailers. After settling with her husband in Northern California, Akua opened her imports boutique called The Lion’s Den. During her time as a dance instructor in African Dance, Akua took trips to West Africa and India. Bringing home imports and artisan finds. Relocating to Miami, Luna Angel, Akua’s daughter, advised her mother into relisting her hand picked items online, and in turn Akua Angel Online was birthed. Etsy link in bio. 📷:
