Welcome to Renz’s Fake Cooking Show, here to bring you a yummy little Irish recipe ☘️

Sourdough Irish Soda Bread

Ingredients
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 4 tablespoons granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1½ teaspoons fine sea salt
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, cold and cut into small cubes
- 1 large egg
- ¾ cup buttermilk
- 1 cup sourdough starter discard or active sourdough starter
- 1 cup raisins (optional - we opted out)

Instructions
1. Preheat the oven to 375°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
2. Mix the flour, sugar, baking soda and salt (you can use a mixer).
3. Add the cold butter a few cubes at a time and mix until incorporated.
4. Lightly beat the egg, buttermilk and sourdough starter together in a separate bowl.
5. Gradually add the buttermilk mixture to the flour mixture.
6. Add the raisins and mix until combined. The dough will be slightly wet and sticky.
7. Transfer the dough to a well-floured surface and knead it a few times into a round ball.
8. Cut a large “X” into the top and place the dough on the prepared baking sheet.
9. Bake for 45–55 minutes. Cover with foil around the 40-minute mark if the loaf is browning too much.
10. Cool on a wire rack before cutting into wedges.
