If you're coming down for the weekend, make a walk through the marina part of the plan.

Don't overthink it.

Halibut is mild, firm and doesn't need much help. A hot pan or grill, a little butter, salt, pepper and lemon will get you a long way.

It's also a great fish for someone who says, "I don't really like fish."

You might just change their mind.

We love Dungeness crab around here...

But it doesn't have to get ALL the attention.

Oysters and steamer clams deserve a spot at the table, too.

Steam the clams with a little garlic and butter. Keep the oysters simple. Add some crusty bread and you've got a pretty good excuse to stay at the table awhile.

Fresh or frozen?

Don't be so quick to count frozen seafood out.

Good seafood that's handled properly and frozen while it's in great condition can be an excellent way to keep local fish on hand long after your trip to Westport is over.

Fresh is wonderful when it's available. Frozen means Tuesday night three months from now can be pretty wonderful, too.

That's why you'll find both fresh seafood and vacuum-sealed freezer options at Seafood Connection.

That's exactly why we have the Tuna Call List.

When the boats are headed in with tuna, we start working our way down the list and making calls. If you want a chance at fresh albacore this season, make sure your name is on it.

The ocean doesn't give us a delivery schedule, so neither can we. That's part of buying seafood straight from a working fishing port.
