Color matching can be tricky, but with the right expertise it can save you the headache of refinishing your entire floor.

Before: new pine boards woven into a Fairfield floor that’s close to a century old. Fresh wood, still pale.
After: stained and finished to blend with the old pine around it.

A broom and a mop with mild soap is really all it takes. No grout lines to scrub, no wax coat to reapply like some other floors need.

The one thing that actually wears an epoxy floor down faster isn't skipping maintenance, it's skipping the grinding step before install. Get that part right, and the floor takes care of itself for years.

Same house, part two. Last week we showed the floor going from dark to light, here's the room it's actually sitting in now. TV's up over the fireplace, the window finally gets to do its job, and the satin finish keeps it soft instead of shiny. This one's in Westport, CT. If your floor's due for the same kind of change, link in bio.

This floor started dark, the kind of dark that hides scratches but also hides the wood underneath it. We sanded it back down to bare, then finished it with a water-based coat to bring it up light. Same floor, same house, completely different room.

A lot of homeowners assume refinishing means "redo it the same color", it doesn't have to, and the finish you pick matters: water-based stays light, where an oil-based finish would slowly amber back toward that darker look. If you've got a dark floor you're tired of, swipe through and see what's actually possible.

Before we sand or finish anything, we hold a few stain samples against the actual wood in the room, in the actual light. What looks right on a little chip isn't always what looks right on your floor.

A cracked board or a deep scratch doesn't always mean a new floor. Most of the time it means a repair, matched to your existing wood, sanded flush, done in a fraction of the time a full replacement takes. A full tear-out should be the last option, not the first one someone offers you. If a contractor jumps straight to 'let's rip it all out,' get a second opinion first.

Is epoxy overkill for a garage? No. It's the difference between a floor that stains and pits in a few years and one that doesn't. Same logic for a shop or commercial space, regular concrete can't take oil, chemicals, and constant traffic the way a properly done epoxy floor can. If you're deciding between epoxy and just sealing concrete, ask us first. Happy to walk through what actually holds up.

This is what an epoxy job actually looks like, start to finish. Plain concrete first, then a floor built to take oil, salt, and daily wear without breaking down. Garage or commercial space, same process either way.
