So many Samples have made their way back home and now it's time to tag and photograph them!

Each sample will get it's own post highlighting who created them, the pattern and yarn used!

Our samples that are displayed at festivals will now also have QR Codes to bring you to the source of the pattern as well as all yarns available in the base used!

I hope this makes it easy to soak in the inspiration in the moment and have a project ready for the yarn that calls to you!

I am always looking for a few more samples throughout the year and if you are interested in becoming a sample knitter or crocheter and want to know more about the process and projects are open for sample makers!

I couldn't resist seeing how this colorway "I Wish..." part of the Labyrinth Colorway on my new Monarch DK Base with Irridescent Sparkle and Nylon. Pattern is Red Dwarf Socks - Knee High Version on Ravelry, Requires 2 Skeins. Sample Knitter was Jennifer of Made By Squeekers' Mom. I'll be working on more photos on this drizzly day!

Wool free scrap socks, done. I’ll always reach for wool first, but sometimes you just have to use up what’s in the bin. These were pure fun to make and I’m pretty happy with the chaos.

These socks are done and I think I need a moment.

A little while ago I posted about falling completely in love with this yarn before I had even finished the first sock. Fully blocked and finished I can confirm that the feelings have only gotten stronger. The Lily of the Valley Sock base from is everything, the lace in the Red Dwarf Socks Knee High Version by shows it off beautifully, and watching it change in the light literally never gets old.

This is a sample for an upcoming base and colorway releasing at NJ Sheep and Wool this fall and I cannot wait to see it out in the wild at fiber festivals.

What I also cannot wait for is casting on a second pair as kilt hose for .ahearn . He has been warned. Sort of.

The Whisper Cable Socks by are out today, and I'm so happy I got to test knit these. Twisted cable columns framed by ribbing, knit top down, and they are just as fun to knit as they look. Anna's pattern is clear and well thought out, and it was a joy to be part of the testing process.

My pair is knit in @ Superwash Sock in the colorway Crocus Heart. That warm orange with little flecks of purple feels like the perfect way to welcome autumn. Knitter's note: I used 2.25mm needles for the body and went up to 2.5mm for the cast on so the cuff has a little more stretch.

Recycled Socks No. 2: and another piece of 2005 gets to live again.

These started as one of the very first pairs of socks I ever made, unraveled carefully and mixed with new yarn to become something completely different. Lion Brand Magic Stripes in Lumberjack Black, salvaged and reborn with scraps and my own toe-up pattern.

I love that they ended up looking like something that belongs in a garden. Earth tones, wood tones, the colors of dirt under fingernails and leaves underfoot. Socks that started indoors in 2005 and came back as something wild.

The colorway is called Lumberjack Black. It's fall. I own a lot of flannel so it makes sense. But honestly, somewhere along the way I think I stopped being a bumbling lumberjack and became something more like a feral bog creature who occasionally emerges from the undergrowth with handknit socks and strong opinions about life. I think that's character development...

I have a confession: I stood outside for an embarrassing amount of time just watching this yarn change in the light.

Lily of the Valley Sock from@fourheartsfarmmainelyfiber deep and moody in the shade, completely transformed in the sun, with a mermaid sparkle running through it that I did not expect and cannot stop thinking about. It's the kind of yarn that makes you slow down and actually look at what you're making and enjoy every stitch.

I'm knitting it as a sample for the Red Dwarf Socks Knee High Version by and the lace pattern is showing off every facet of this yarn beautifully.

This is a brand new base and colorway that will be releasing in September at the NJ Sheep and Wool Festival, so consider this your official heads up to keep your eye out.

What do you do with all the tiny scraps left over from years of sock knitting?

These scrappy socks are knit from the accumulated sock yarn chaos of more years than I can count. It is my own toe-up pattern, straight from my brain. I collected all the scraps over the many years like a crow collecting shiny treasures. I lost count of how many pairs are represented in here. I didn't lose a single memory though. That colorway that made me swear. That skein I fell completely in love with. That pair that went wrong so many times before it went right. They're all in here somewhere, living together now in one gloriously unhinged love letter to every pair that came before them.
