The D’Esopo Family and Staff are proud to join the effort to restore the steeple of First Church of Christ in Wethersfield to its original beauty with a $10,000 contribution to the restoration project.

For generations, the steeple has watched over our community, serving as a beacon of hope and support through every season of our shared history. It is a privilege for the D’Esopo family to be part of preserving this cherished legacy for generations to come.

Funeral Fact Friday:

In ancient Greece, the phrase “to need celery” (deisthai selinon) was used for someone who was dangerously ill and close to death.

Why celery?
Celery was associated with death and funerals and was used in funeral wreaths and placed on tombs. So, saying someone “needed celery” was a way of saying they were nearing the end.
