Welcome to The Barnyard – Your Local, Family-Owned Feed & Farm Supply Store

What began as a small auction hobby has grown into something much bigger, a full-service agricultural feed and supply store deeply rooted in faith, family, and farming. Founded by JD and Crystal McKenzie in 2020, The Barnyard started with nothing more than a single online auction pallet and a dream. Driven by passion for farming and a strong commitment to their hometown, JD and Crystal’s transformed that dream into a business that now supports local farmers, homesteaders, and pet owners across southern Ohio and northern Kentucky. A woman-owned LLC, The Barnyard proudly offers a carefully curated selection of livestock feed and pet food, along with locally sourced hay and straw. We’re honored to stock farm-fresh eggs from our nephew Zane at Conrad’s Coops, pork raised by the Slack family, and beef straight from our own McKenzie Family Farms. As we grow, we are committed to listening to our customers and community, your needs will shape what we carry. With your input, we plan to expand our inventory to include a wider range of farm supplies, and anything else our neighbors suggest. At the heart of The Barnyard is a desire to give back and carry on a legacy. The feed store is especially meaningful to us, as a way to honor JD’s late father, Jim McKenzie (some of you may remember him as J9), a beloved figure in the Minford community and a familiar face at the original Minford Feed Store. Jim’s values of hard work, kindness, and neighborly service or advice (sometimes un-wanted advice) continue to inspire everything The Barnyard stands for. We are raising our children to understand the value of hard work, entrepreneurship, and serving others, and this business is their hands on classroom. A classroom where we plan to host other children and community members who want to learn those same values.
