Great news!: Not only is reading fun to do, it's also awesome for your health! Studies show that, in kids, reading leads to better cognition, fewer mental health symptoms, better attention, less time on screens, sleeping longer, and performing better in school. And in adults, reading leads to less loneliness, greater empathy, reduced risk of cognitive decline, and lowered stress. So, what are you waiting for? Pick up a book and get reading!! What benefits do YOU get from reading???

A new research review reveals what we lose when we give up reading.

We're hiring at Vigilant Books & Coffee! We're building a team for our bookstore and coffee shop in Wheeling's old Main Street firehouse — used books, specialty coffee, a globally inspired bento menu, and a full calendar of community events.

We're looking for people who love books and coffee and know how to make a stranger feel like a regular. Bookselling experience, barista experience, or both appreciated but not necessary. Openings across café, bookselling, management, and cook roles. Part and Full-Time positions available.

RIP Dolly Parton

Dolly spread the love of reading to over 3 million kids across the globe through the Imagination Library, which provides one free book a month to kids 0-5 years old. To register your child, check out https://imaginationlibrary.com/

Everywhere I go, the kids call me 'the book lady.' The older I get, the more appreciative I seem to be of the 'book lady' title. It makes me feel more like a legitimate person, not just a singer or an entertainer. But it makes me feel like I've done something good with my life and with my success.
