PART 8: LEGACY
When Mike Abbott opened a small paint store in 1945, he probably never imagined what his legacy would become.
Yes, he built a successful business, but more importantly, he built a family and a way of doing business that continues to shape Abbott more than 80 years later.
Together, Mike and Jeanne raised seven children, teaching them the values of hard work, integrity, kindness and treating people the right way. While some chose to continue the family business and others built careers of their own, each became an important part of the Abbott story. Their spouses also played a meaningful role, offering the support and encouragement that helped the business thrive.
After Jeanne's passing in 1984, Mike found love again and married Patty in 1989. Together, they blended their families, and Mike embraced Patty's children and grandchildren as his own. His legacy continued to grow through love, family and shared memories.
Today, that legacy lives on through children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, as well as the next generation helping lead Abbott into the future.
But Mike's legacy isn't measured by the number of stores we've opened or the products we've added.
It's measured by the people.
The employees who built careers here. The customers who have trusted us with their homes for generations. The family who continue to carry his values forward every day.
It's fitting that one of our most trusted paint lines is called Legacy. To us, it's more than a name on a paint can. It represents the quality, honesty and relationships Mike believed in from the very beginning.
Thank you, Mike, Jeanne and Patty, for building something that has touched so many lives.
If Abbott has been part of your family's story, we'd love to hear your favorite memory in the comments.
