Yarrow (Achillea millefolium) is native to large swaths of the northern hemisphere and has been used for millennia as a medical herb. The genus name ‘Achillea’ is a reference to the Iliad when Achilles carried yarrow onto the battlefield to treat his wounded soldier
Yarrow spreads quickly by rhizomes and will do best when planted with other robust perennials like goldenrod, pearly everlasting, and beebalm.
