📚✨ We’re so happy to have a whole room dedicated to our youngest readers!

Our children’s room has grown into one of our favorite spaces in the store, filled with picture books, board books, chapter books, series, classics, and plenty of stories waiting for a new home.

There’s just something special about giving kids a space of their own to wander the shelves, discover new stories, and pick out a book that catches their eye. ❤️📖

We’re so grateful to be able to create a little corner of Once Upon a Shelf just for them!

🐉📚 Ruby’s Pick!

I asked my 11-year-old daughter, Ruby, to pick out a book she’s read and really enjoyed—and she went straight for the Wings of Fire series! 🐉

Ruby has read both the graphic novels AND the chapter books, and she loves them both. She and her bestie have been especially excited about the series lately, so you can imagine how excited they get when we have new Wings of Fire books come into the store!

Ruby says there are lots of adventures, exciting battles, and rescues, and that they’re just fun to read! ❤️

So if you have a young reader who loves dragons, adventure, and a little excitement, Ruby says you should give Wings of Fire a try! 🐲📖

And if you see a new one hit our shelves… you might want to grab it before Ruby and her bestie beat you to it! 😉

We just got in a new Kristin Hannah title, and if you know Kristin Hannah, you know these books do NOT last long around here! Seriously, they tend to disappear within a day or two. 👀📖

Larry McMurtry was a Texas author through and through, and while Lonesome Dove may be his best-known work, he wrote so many other wonderful novels, memoirs, and stories that are worth discovering.

If you love Lonesome Dove, there’s a good chance you’ll find another McMurtry book to love, too. ❤️

📖 A little glimpse of what I’m reading right now…

I honestly don’t have a whole lot of time to read these days, but being surrounded by books all day has definitely inspired me to make a little more time for it.

So, when I have a quiet moment—or when I decide I just don’t want to deal with the business stuff for a few minutes 😅—I pick up Cleopatra: A Life by Stacy Schiff.

It is definitely challenging me! I’ve already learned some new vocabulary along the way, but it is SO well written and keeps me wanting to know what happens next.

I’m enjoying getting lost in a book again. ❤️📚
