I wanted to start some crops from seeds this year, and I also wanted to use bio degradable cups-but everything was either made from peat moss or expensive 🙄 so I looked to diy options. I chose to try out origami boxes from recycled newspaper. I love how the first one turned out with this lil baby Spaghetti Squash!

It’s finally happened! I am excited to let y’all know our ducks have started their first laying season. We took it really hard last year with the loss of our chicken flock, but it seems we will be able to start selling eggs again soon as it continues into spring. I chose to restart our egg program with ducks instead of chickens, as they are hardier, less prone to disease/environmental factors, and will offer more meat after processing. After our ladies start laying consistently, we will be offering Muscovy and khaki ducklings/hatching eggs as well as eggs for eating.

I am late posting this as it’s been a really hard hit for my farm, but unfortunately we have ended our egg production. Awhile back, one of our chickens showed signs of respiratory illness and they were quarantined from the rest of the flock and treated, but due to the severity of the disease it still managed to infect all of the flock members. I had to euthanize the entire flock due to an outbreak of Marek’s disease, which is an uncurable viral disease that can spread from chicken dander, and can live on and in the soil for numerous years. As of now, we will not be raising chickens again for at least a couple years. Please understand that euthanizing my flock was the very last resort, and I tried for a very long time to medicate the infected chickens, and slow the rate of infection but it was not possible and my babies were suffering. Thank you for your understanding.
