History: Clifton Square began in 1972 when an elegant Victorian era boarding house was transformed into the heart of a new shopping village in Wichita's historic College Hill district. Miss Pearlie's boarding house, occupied from 1925 through the 1960's, is the centerpiece for the square and was built in 1886. The transformation of the Square includes brick walkways a shaded patio, old lamp posts,
leaded glass windows, beveled and etched doors, elegant oak trims, built-in china cabinets and numerous pieces of outdoor sculpture.
