Unfortunately, we weren't able to make a post when we learned of Dolly Parton's passing, but we wanted to take a moment to honor an absolutely remarkable woman whose impact reached far beyond music.

Dolly Parton will be remembered for her talent, her humor, and her larger-than-life presence, but one of her greatest legacies is the way she used her success to lift others up. Through Dolly Parton's Imagination Library, launched in 1995, she inspired generations of young readers by providing free books to children from birth to age five. What began as a program in her hometown grew into a global literacy initiative that has gifted hundreds of millions of books to children and families around the world.

Dolly was also known for her philanthropy, disaster relief efforts, support of medical research, and her belief that every person deserves dignity, opportunity, and respect. Throughout her life, she advocated for inclusion, women's rights, literacy, education, and support for LGBTQ+ communities while consistently choosing kindness over division.

What we admire most is that Dolly never forgot where she came from. She understood that access to books, education, and opportunity can change the course of a child's life, and she dedicated decades to making those resources more accessible for families. Her generosity created ripples that will continue to benefit communities for generations to come.

In honor of Dolly's incredible legacy, all altar offerings collected at Connect With Source during the month of September will be donated to the Kansas Children's Cabinet and Trust Fund, the affiliate partner that helps bring Dolly Parton's Imagination Library to children right here in our community.

We believe there is something deeply magical about placing books into the hands of children, fostering curiosity, imagination, and a lifelong love of learning. It feels like a beautiful way to celebrate a woman who dedicated so much of her life to doing exactly that.

Thank you, Dolly, for reminding us that kindness matters, literacy matters, and that one person truly can make an extraordinary difference in the lives of millions. ❤️
