Well, it’s official. The King has a name.

Meet Presley!

The final vote between Cash and Presley was incredibly close, so our marketing team had to make the final call.

We went with Presley because, really, how could we resist? Purrscilla and Presley just belong together.

Thanks to everyone who voted and followed along with this handsome guy’s story.

From neighborhood hound dog to the King of Johnson’s, he’s come a long way. We’re pretty sure he approves of his new name. 🖤

Emporia, get ready to turn up the heat! 🌶️🍺

Something spicy is coming to Radius Brewing Co. this Saturday, August 15 at 11 AM: the very first Hatch & Hops Hatch Chile Festival!

Johnson’s Garden Centers will be roasting fresh Hatch chiles while Radius brings the cold beer and chile-inspired food. Add in a bike ride, games, live music, and plenty of summer fun, and you’ve got one heck of a Saturday.

🌿 Plant nerds, assemble!

Today, members of the Johnson’s Garden Centers team spent the morning at the Kansas Turf & Ornamentals Field Day hosted by K-State Research & Extension.

We had the opportunity to learn from some of the best in the industry on topics ranging from turf management and w**d control to trees, mulch, insects, and the latest horticultural research.

There’s always something new to discover, and attending events like these means when you ask our staff a question about your lawn and garden, you can be confident the advice we give is research-based and tailored to Kansas growing conditions.

We’re grateful to K-State Research & Extension and all of today’s presenters for sharing their knowledge. We came back with new ideas, fresh perspectives, and excitement to put what we learned into practice.

Meet the dad of the Garden Center kittens.

Our staff nicknamed him Scarface because, well, life on the streets hasn’t exactly been kind to him. He’s often curled up on the office back porch with Purrscilla and proudly patrols the garden center like he owns the place.

We’ve been caring for him the past few weeks in hopes of TNR’ing him. With just a little love and a lot of cat food, we’ve gotten to see beneath that rough exterior. He’s a pretty sweet guy, and we think he deserves a more suitable name.

Presley – Because he’s the King of Johnson’s, and every Purrscilla deserves her Presley.

Thorn – A rugged, garden-worthy name.

Cash – The Man in Black.

Cannon – a la Nick Cannon... because let’s just say he’s been a very busy cat.

🌶️🍺 Hatch & Hops is coming to Emporia!

Join us at Radius Brewing Co. on Saturday, August 15 for their inaugural Hatch & Hops Hatch Chile Festival!

We’ll be firing up the chile roasters while Radius serves up cold beer and hatch chile-inspired eats from their food truck.

Enjoy fresh roasted Hatch chiles, great food, local beer, and a day packed with fun. Music, games, a gravel bike ride with Discover Gravel LLC, and more details are still to come!
