Wichita, Kansas | May 22, 2023
Vanessa Whiteside's book, 100 Things To Do In Wichita Before You Die, was recognized by Kansas Professional Communicators as a 2023 Communications First Place Contest Winner, an honor for the first-time author and long-time Wichita resident. Released in May 2022 by Reedy Press, the bucket list book is filled cover to cover with timeless destinations and lesser-known places. It includes five sections, plus seasonal and topical itineraries.
"I'm elated to earn this distinction for my first book, " says Vanessa Whiteside. "Writing a book takes a considerable amount of time and effort, so to have it recognized at this level makes me beyond happy."
A Wichita native and travel writer, Vanessa Whiteside wrote 100 Things to Do in Wichita Before You Die as a quintessential guide for visitors, adventure-seeking locals, and new residents who want to get to know their city.
Whiteside's book will compete at the national competition and will be recognized at the National Federation of Press Women conference in Cincinnati, Ohio, on June 22-24. Whiteside plans to attend the conference.
100 Things To Do In Wichita Before You Die retails for $17 by Reedy Press and is available to purchase on their website, Amazon.com, Barnes & Noble, and Watermark Books & Cafe. Whiteside's second book, Secret Wichita: A Guide To The Weird, Wonderful, and Obscure, will be published this fall. Each book has a page featuring event announcements and bonus content.
