CONSIGNMENT INFORMATION:

We take items by APPOINTMENT ONLY. If you miss this season, there is always the next one! We will look at a maximum of 40 items at one time, this does not mean we will take all of your items. Especially if late in the season or the store is full. Items must be brought in cleaned, pressed (wrinkle-free) & ON HANGERS. Items with pet hair will
not be accepted. We have many great consignors, so we are incredibly choosy. We look at brands and the condition of your items. We take upscale items from the past two to three seasons or what we consider a current style. Items must be in excellent condition. An Example of Items we DO Accept
Think top department stores such as Saks, Neiman, Nordstrom, Von Maur, Dillards, etc. Some of our favorite, large, stand-alone shops are Anthropologie, Soft Surroundings, Eileen Fisher & Free People. We take items from Boutiques and from Store Brands Banana Republic, J Crew, Madewell, Chico's, White House Black Market, Ann Taylor, and similar brands. We LOVE nice jewelry- we sell a lot of David Yurman, John Hardy, Tiffany, Michele, Anna Beck, etc. We love athletic wear, too. Again, top brands. We accept NICE handbags, shoes, jewelry & accessories. We accept shoes, however, they do not sell well unless NEW or in Tip-Top condition. Shoppers are very picky when it comes to shoes, so it only makes sense that we too will be picky. We only accept NEW WITH TAG swimsuits. We take GAP on a limited basis. We take holiday/cocktail dresses on a VERY limited basis. We accept VERY FEW Vintage clothing items. Example of Items We Do NOT Accept
We do not accept items from JCPenny, Kohls, Old Navy, Sears, Walmart, Target, etc. We do not take Prom or Wedding dresses. We do not take Dated Fashion Jewelry. No Children's or Men's items are accepted. Things to Consider:
While preparing for your appointment, be mindful of your selections. Doing so will save time, frustration, and disappointment. The Violet Closet has full discretion as to what will be accepted on consignment. Some reasons we may turn away an item are if we are full in certain categories or sizes, or we have noticed a downturn in the selling of particular styles, etc. Please know it is not personal and be respectful of our decision. Unfortunately, we have encountered problems with consignors becoming upset about items we will not take, which makes the above statement necessary. It is our job to curate the shop and to sell the consignor's items. It is a waste of both our time (and space) to take items we do not need or believe will not sell. Trust is very important in the consignment process, and that extends to trusting us to know what to accept. Payments, etc. We pay 40% to our Consignors (unless it is a luxury handbag). There are a few exceptions to the 40% standard, but very special items will be considered and agreed upon prior to offering said item(s) for sale. We will agree upon pricing through text or an addendum to a regular signed contract for specific item(s). Items not sold are donated to a local charity and noted on your account so you may use it as a tax deduction. *Exceptions on donated items can be made if the item(s) meet our criteria (ie a Luxury designer). Checks and Settlement Statements are created once your account reaches $30. If your account is at $29.99 at the end of the Settlement month, the balance will carry over to the following month. Consignors are paid the 15th of the month from the previous month's sales, unless the 15th falls on a Sunday or Monday, in which case your check will be ready on the following Tuesday. If you live inside the city limits of Wichita, you must pick up your check. Checks expire after 6 months, and will then convert to store credit. Store credit must be used within 6 months of the original check issue date. It is your responsibility to call on or after the 15th to see if you have a check to pick up. We do not have a specific "Consignment Contract Period" for most items, our one exception is Luxury handbags. Most Consignment shops keep your items for 3 months, whereas we keep items for the season. Our "seasons" generally begin in September for Fall/Winter, and in March for Spring/Summer, giving you a longer selling period, thus making it a bi-yearly donation period.
