Myth: A 2002 study led to warnings that hormone therapy causes high rates of breast cancer, heart disease, and dementia.
Fact: In November 2025, the FDA moved to remove those black box warnings entirely. Why? The original study tested women averaging 63 years old, over a decade past typical menopause onset, using a hormone formulation rarely used today, and found only a statistically non-significant increase in breast cancer risk. Research now shows women who start HRT within 10 years of menopause may reduce their risk of cardiovascular disease by up to 50%, Alzheimer's by 35%, and bone fractures by 50 to 60%.
Two decades of fear kept many women from a treatment that could genuinely help them. Join our clinical team for a free virtual info session on Wednesday, September 16 at 7:00 PM ET to learn what the science actually says. Reserve your spot at townhall.medicfw.com.
