When we found two domestic rabbits abandoned outdoors, we never imagined how quickly they'd hop into our hearts.

This is Little Bean—curious, sweet, a little mischievous, and growing more confident every single day. Watching this little rescue bunny learn to trust has been one of the most rewarding experiences we've ever had.

Every nose boop, every happy binky, and every tiny milestone reminds us why rescue matters. ❤️

🐇💚 Meet Sweet Pea! 💚🐇

Sweet Pea officially has a name!

What started as two little bunnies showing up unexpectedly has turned into an adventure we never expected. Sweet Pea has gone from being nervous and unsure to eagerly waiting for breakfast every morning.

Today's bunny breakfast included: 🥬 Butter Baby 🥬 Protein Mix 🥬 Super Greens 🌿 Cilantro 🌿 Parsley 🌿 Dill 🌿 Mint (just a tiny sprig)

Watching Sweet Pea happily munch away is a reminder of how quickly animals can learn to trust when they're given patience, good food, and a safe place to land.

We're still earning Sweet Pea's trust when it comes to being handled, but every day brings a little more progress. ❤️

🐦💚 A new youngster stopped by yesterday!

I believe this is a juvenile Red-bellied Woodpecker visiting our Birdfy feeder! 🥹

At first glance, Birdfy identified it as an adult female, but look closely... there's no red on the head yet, just soft gray feathers and that sweet, curious face. Young Red-bellied Woodpeckers don't develop their bright red crowns until they're older.

Watching this year's babies discover the feeder has been one of the best parts of summer. Every new visitor is a reminder that even a small backyard can provide food, water, and shelter for the next generation of wildlife.

🐰 Rescue Bunny Update 🐰

A few people have asked why our little rescue bunnies are living in a kiddie pool. 😄

The truth is... this rescue happened completely out of the blue. We had no rabbit supplies, no bunny room, and absolutely no experience with domestic rabbits.

So we did what you do in an emergency—we made do with what we had.

We turned our 10×12 dining room into a temporary bunny room, covered the floor with waterproof drop cloths, picked up a kiddie pool from Target, cut a little doorway in the side, and created a feeding area inside. They can easily hop over the sides, but we're hoping they'll learn that the pool is where the hay, pellets, and fresh greens are served. Keeping the food in one spot should also make cleanup much easier while they're learning good bunny habits.

Every day we're making little improvements as we learn what these sweet babies need.

The best part? They're starting to trust us. ❤️

It's been about a week, and yesterday our little guy took off doing bunny zoomies, and we're even starting to see little happy jumps and twists in the air—those are called binkies! 🥹

We've also been spending time just lying on the floor with them, letting them come to us on their own. At first they wanted nothing to do with people. Now they're slowly hopping over to investigate us, and it's been so rewarding to watch their confidence grow.

They're settling in, they're safe, they're eating well, and they're teaching us just as much as we're teaching them.

🐰 Unexpected update... Meet Our Foster Bunnies!! 🤭

A few days ago, these two sweet domestic rabbits showed up wandering around my client's yard, happily nibbling away at their plants and taking up residence under their deck. Thankfully, we were able to scoop them up and bring them home just before a major storm rolled through.

We are currently fostering this bonded pair through the Humane Society while giving their family time to find and claim them. In the meantime... they've completely stolen our hearts! 🥰🐇

The funny part? We have absolutely no experience with domesticated rabbits! We simply love watching the wild cottontails flourish in our yard. In fact, we currently have a baby wild bunny living in our bushes. So now we have wild bunnies outside... and domestic bunnies inside! 😂

We've been learning right alongside them. They're learning to trust people, discovering fresh greens, doing bunny zoomies, and slowly realizing they're finally safe. Every day they become a little braver, and every day we learn something new.

I thought I'd share their journey with you. Whether they eventually reunite with their family or find a new forever home, we're grateful to be part of their story. 💚🐰

Late Sunday morning with Birds In The ’Burg 🌿🐦

Everything is starting to come alive… the trees are that bright spring green, the yard is lush and blooming, and we had a light drizzle early this morning with temps around 50°. You can feel the season shifting.

The birds didn’t mind one bit—if anything, they showed up even more.

No filters, no added sounds… just real backyard wildlife doing its thing.

If you listen closely, you might catch:

Northern Cardinals, Eastern Bluebirds, Carolina Chickadees, Tufted Titmice, Carolina Wrens, and Chipping Sparrows.

Even a few minutes of this kind of natural sound can help reset your focus better than scrolling ever will.

We hung a birdseed bell behind our stone birdbath, thinking the birds would enjoy it.

They didn’t have a chance to get to it.

But the Squirrels In The ’Burg sure did.

They came through the trellis openings like they had reservations—climbing, hanging upside down, sitting on the birdbath, and going right back for more.

Total takeover.

Spring hasn’t filled in the vines yet, so the trellis is wide open… which basically turned it into a squirrel playground.
