Every flower choice has a reason and every bouquet tells a story. Thatās the only way I work.
Paige and Paul drew inspiration from the brand Terrain, and if you know Anthropologieās sister store like I do (and my credit card does), you know itās full of artful textural designs with neutral and earthy elements. After getting off my first phone call with them, I knew two things for certain 1. This bouquet was going to be a stunner and 2. I had the perfect botanically dyed silk ribbon saved in my favorites for this very moment. Thank you
Paige and Paul loved incorporating dried elements in their design, and I loved that. Even more importantly, we were able to bring poppy pods into the entire design, as poppy flowers live close to Paigeās heart and are symbolic for a loved one. But dried elements have a weight to them, visually, so the trick is knowing what to pair with them so the whole design still feels fresh and delicate.
Thatās where the recipe plays over and over in my head.
Nerine brings playfulness and wispy texture. Queen Anneās lace gives a soft feeling. Hellebores are the perfect base flower, because I love their moodiness and greenery in a personal bouquet. Sweet peas for a line flower accented with chocolate sherry oncidium orchids (that I found at a nursery a week before and immediately thought of Paige). Teddy roses to ground the design and have that neutral brown color. Scabiosa pods, poppy pods and dried eucalyptus clusters with a hint of millet.
Oh! And a sprig of rosemary for good luck & to tie into Paulās boutonniĆØre (but thatās for another post).
Itās more than a recipe, itās more than a bouquet. Always.
