Within these waters lurk dangerous and adventurous tales of men and women who sailed the seas. The Wreck Tavern (previously called The Buccaneer Trading Company) has been the only port of call on the Internet dedicated to actual Books, Maps, prints, numismatics, and Artifacts from the Age of Piracy. Circa 1996, we have been selling rare items that symbolize this adventurous era of nautical history. We do not sell new mass published books. Our proprietors have only the real deal in stock... 18th century copies of Esquemelings (Exquemlin) "Bucaniers of America". Herman Molls Map of the West Indies indicating the Tracts of the Spanish Treasure Fleet consisting of the fabled Spanish Galleons. Actual treasure salvage numismatics such as Spanish Pieces of Eight, Portuguese Reis and Dutch Stuivers. We even have a 18th century flintlock holster pistol that has paid its dues to Spanish colonial history. There is so much to see and experience. For the past 12 years I have been busy building other people their websites. The Buccaneer Trading Company website remained essentially the same from the day I released it in 1996. Through the years it won some design awards for its use of map accents, backgrounds and clean interface for product listings, etc. And it brought in many interesting customers... like the set/prop designers from Disney's Pirates of the Caribbean and several projects on the National Geographic channel. However, to today's standards it was ancient. Finally, I am just about ready to release its update. Stay tuned...

Thank you everyone for checking in and asking what happened to the legacy Buccaner Trading Company/Wreck tavern website. Well first if all as most of you already know, we changed our name to the Wreck Tavern. Mainly for the reason that we have always been a resource for books, maps, prints, artifacts and numismatics on the subject of shipwrecks... not only piracy. Somehow through the years the BTC became known as the "pirate" site. And that is so far from the truth. We have been providing customers with everything from resource books to period maps for the purpose of aiding in the identification and recovery of shipwrecks found through the years. The piracy element is a partial focus that helps us encapsulate the time period in which we focused on... the age of piracy. We are still a piracy authority and have been providing many interesting articles and relatively unknown facts on pirates that have been used by many through the years. We're just a little more than that...
