Mike McFarland, the longtime English voice of Master Roshi in Dragon Ball, has died at the age of 56.

For generations of fans, McFarland's voice was inseparable from characters including Master Roshi and Yajirobe, but his incredible career extended far beyond Dragon Ball.

He also brought to life Buggy in One Piece, Jean Havoc in Fullmetal Alchemist, Jean Kirstein in Attack on Titan and many more characters, while helping shape countless English anime productions as an ADR director, writer and producer.

McFarland had been battling glioblastoma, an aggressive form of brain cancer.

Our thoughts are with his family, friends, colleagues and the generations of anime fans who grew up with his work.

Rest in peace, Mike McFarland.
