That’s a wrap on our September 12 Nairobi rooftop shoot. 🇰🇪📸✨

Today, Runway Recycled had the pleasure of creating with an amazing group of Kenyan models, including , Khabukwi Cynthia, Harriet & our incredible creative team.

Fashion. Movement. Nairobi energy. ♻️

What makes these shoots especially meaningful for us is seeing existing fashion given another opportunity to be styled, reimagined, photographed and celebrated — proving once again that a garment’s story doesn’t have to end after one chapter.

A huge thank you to every model, photographer and member of the support team who showed up and helped bring today’s vision to life.

And yes… the photos are coming. 👀🔥

This stopped us.

The original creator, KALA BLAQ KINTSUGI 🇬🇭🌍 , shared what he has personally witnessed in Accra, Ghana — watching a beach in his hometown change under the weight of discarded fashion and choosing to respond through upcycling, design and community impact.

His words are a reminder that textile waste is not an abstract sustainability conversation. In some communities, it is visible, local and deeply personal.

As the founder of Runway Recycled, this is exactly why I believe existing fashion deserves another chapter before it becomes waste.

We are currently in Nairobi, Kenya — and Ghana is next. 🇬🇭♻️

I’m looking forward to learning, listening and connecting with people who are already doing this work on the ground.

Commercial model MIss Joy wears a PETA-Approved Vegan dress by LA-based COALITION — Jasmine, Size S | Style FD0013. 🌿

This dress was rescued in Delaware and brought all the way to Nairobi, Kenya to showcase two things we believe deserve more attention: existing fashion and natural beauty.

Did you know that huge volumes of secondhand and donated clothing are shipped from wealthier countries to markets across Africa?

Much of that clothing finds a valuable second life through Kenya’s mitumba economy. But garments that arrive damaged, unsuitable or unsellable can ultimately become textile waste — ending up in dumpsites, being burned, or polluting waterways.

That reality is one of the reasons Runway Recycled does what we do.

We carefully rescue and curate garments from closed retailers and boutiques, thrift outlets and other sources before perfectly wearable fashion is discarded.

Because sustainability is not always about creating something new.

Sometimes it is about recognizing the value in what already exists — and giving it another beautiful chapter. ♻️
