The Pumpkin Patch at Wesley

The Pumpkin Patch at Wesley Opening Day: Saturday, September 26, 2026! We are honored to uphold this Wilmington tradition. Proceeds go towards our ministries and youth group events.

Many folks have a whole lifetime of pictures of their children taken in the midst of the big gourds and pumpkins here at Wesley! We take cash, card, and other tap features such as apple pay and Google pay!

Your first October weekend at the patch is here! The air might not be as crisp as your Diet Coke, but head on over to the patch to get started on all things Fall! Stop by Friday & Saturday 9am-7pm to find your pumpkins, then come back Sunday at 2:00 PM for Blessing of the Animals. Bring your animal companion, invite a pet-loving neighbor, and check our Stories for weather or schedule updates before heading over.

Last season, some of you may have met our friend, Humphrey von Wesley, out on Peachtree Avenue. Humphrey asked us to let you know that he's not gone forever, but he has found a new, less windy spot to keep watch over our patch! 👀 Can you find him?

Every pumpkin has a purpose. When you shop at the Wesley Pumpkin Patch, you are helping support Wesley Memorial UMC's continued relationship with Pumpkin Patch Fundraisers, making ministry possible throughout the year.

'Pumpkin Patch Fundraisers began in 1974 with three acres of pumpkins in North Carolina and a simple agreement with one church. There were no contracts, no lawyers — just a handshake and a shared belief in doing what’s rightThe church would sell the pumpkins. We would grow them. We would share the proceeds. That spirit of trust became the foundation of everything that followed. It’s a relationship built not on paperwork, but on integrity.

After Hurricane Hugo struck North Carolina, we relocated our farming operations to the Navajo Nation near Farmington, New Mexico. Working in cooperation with the Navajo Nation, we now grow approximately 1,200 acres — nearly two square miles — of pumpkins.

Each September and October, more than 700 Native Americans are employed during harvest season. Our full-time New Mexico staff is entirely Native American as well. In a region facing significant unemployment, this partnership provides meaningful work and lasting economic impact.'
