I used to think quilting was all about the pattern.

Then I thought it was about choosing the perfect fabric.

Then the technique.

But after 30 years of sewing, I know something now that I didn’t know when I started at 10 years old.

The quilts I remember aren’t the ones I made perfectly.

They’re the quilts I made intentionally for the people I love. ❤️

That’s why before I start any quilt, I ask myself one question:

Who am I sewing this for?

Because the fabric becomes the quilt.

But the person you give it to becomes the story behind it.

And that, to me, is Quilting Your Legacy.

My grandmother made the quilt I’m holding in this video, and I absolutely treasure it. Not because every stitch is perfect.

Because she made it.

Someday, someone may hold one of your quilts and feel exactly the same way.

Nobody has ever been talked to less than a woman holding a seam ripper. 😂

I have achieved total silence in this household.

Do not speak.
Do not make eye contact.

Block 7 has been very rude to me, and we are currently working through our differences one stitch at a time. 😂

Please tell me your family also knows when the seam ripper comes out, it’s best to just slowly back away. 🧵

Quilters, I need to know this is normal. 😂

You lay out your blocks just to “take a quick look”…

And suddenly you’re rearranging them, walking away, coming back, squinting from across the room, taking 14 pictures and wondering how it’s been 45 minutes.

Please tell me you do this too. 😂

Sometimes you don’t realize how far God has carried you until you tell your story out loud and hear the miracle in every moment.

After Nathan died, quilting helped save my life.

It gave me somewhere to put the grief when it was too heavy to carry and too complicated to explain.

Quilting never asked me to be okay. It simply gave my hands something to do while my heart slowly learned how to keep beating.

One piece at a time.
One stitch at a time.
One day at a time.

Somewhere along the way, I realized I wasn’t only making quilts.

I was stitching myself back together.

And that is the heart behind Quilting Your Legacy.

Because sometimes the quilt we’re making becomes part of the story we’re living.

Maybe quilting has carried you through something, too. Maybe it has brought you comfort, connection, creativity, or simply a quiet place to land when life felt like too much.

When I was little, I was convinced every frog was just waiting to become a prince.

I'd spend hours catching frogs and carrying them home, begging my mom to kiss them so one of them would finally turn into her Prince Charming.

She never did. 😂

So when I first saw Tula Pink's Prince Charming collection years ago, it instantly brought me back to those childhood memories.
