Market Days has been an institution in Wimberley since 1964, when the first market was held in the town square. Local vendors set up for business on the tailgates of their trucks. They brought and sold everything — pigs, rugs, homemade tamales, you name it! Most items sold for $10 or less.
. The Market grew from a few trucks that first day 'til there was no more room around the square to handle a
ll the vendors and visitors. By this time the local Lions Club had assumed management and organization of the project. In 1972 they had the foresight to purchase the property on RR 2325 and move Market Day to its current location at Lions Field. Through the years, the Wimberley Lions Club, along with the growing ranks of Market Day Vendors, have worked together to improve the field, making Market Days the shopper's paradise that it has become. Nearly 500 booths offer goods for buyers to explore.
. Market Days are held the first Saturday of every month from March through December. Vendors and shoppers alike come from all over Texas to stroll along the paved, tree-shaded lanes of Lions Field. You'll find everything you can't live without.
. Wimberley is located south of Austin in Hays Country, halfway between San Marcos and Drippings Springs on RR 12. Lions Field is located on RR 2325 about 1/4 mile from its junction with RR12. Gates to Market Day open at 7 a.m. and close when the last vendor packs up his merchandise and heads for home at 4 p.m.
. The Wimberley Lions sponsor all of the food booths and offer plenty of options, including BBQ plates and sandwiches, grilled sausages, breakfast tacos, hot dogs and hamburgers. Lions are hard-put to let anybody at Market Day go hungry! Visitors can also purchase popcorn, ice cream, funnel cakes, soft drinks, shaved ice and sweets all day long.
. Local musicians gather at the spacious Lions Pavilion and entertain the crowds who sit in the shade to eat, drink and rest. Plenty of clean restroom facilities are provided, too. Admission to Market Day is free; parking is available for a $5 donation.

Because it is the mission of Lions everywhere "To Serve," all profits from Market Day booth rentals, concessions and parking are donated back to local, state and worldwide charities, scholarships and community projects. Your support of Market Day contributes to these efforts, and, for that, we thank you and hope you have a wonderful time in Wimberley.
