🌿I've been really quiet for a couple weeks as I sort through my thoughts and move forward from here. I've been existing from my masculine side; from hustle culture and the mentality that the only "good" time is productive time. And I was at a place where I was going, going, going 24/7 with no time for anything else that fueled my passion or sparked my interest. And as Gemini the inability to make a sideways leap at any given moment was utterly stifling.
🙏 During the pandemic shut downs in 2020 before HH was a thing I spent some time with wild crafting and foraging herbs that fascinated me. I've always wanted to learn more about what grows in my backyard; what plant allies are waiting for me to quiet down enough to listen to the wisdom they want to share.
🌲 So, I am going to try to start a new herbalism practice where I work with one herb in my yard per (lunar) month. This is the "Hedgecraft" part of "Hedgecraft Heirlooms" that I always wanted to dive deeper into. And this first lunar cycle of the year, starting with the Lunar New Year most serendipitously, I will be working with pinus strobus, AKA the Eastern White Pine.
🌱 Today I got a jump start by harvesting some pine needles from right my my yard that I intend to make tea with every day as part of this practice. Every day I hope to work with this plant ally in some way shape or form. I'll post snippets here or there. I'm not trying to do anything other than show occasional pretty photos of what I'm doing and maybe fun facts about what I'm learning. 😅 Expect me to be... Sporadic.
🌿 Do you ever wonder about the plants growing in your backyard? Which ones have you always wanted to learn more about? Tell me about it in the comments below. 👇👇👇
