My Personal Malibu Sunsetter LXI Fitment
This is my personal Malibu Sunsetter LXI — 21’6” hull length and approximately 23’ overall with the swim platform installed.
For those asking how I fit my Blue Sky Covers SoftShell on direct-drive and older wake boats, this is my preferred setup using our Size Large SoftShell.
Rather than pulling the nose down to the bow eye, I use only the included under-bow strap at the front and then run the rear tension strap between the two rear corners of the cover, slinging it underneath the swim platform. I have a 4 post tower and a barefoot boom which would make a standard cover even more cumbersome to use daily.
Why?
✅ Maximum interior furniture coverage
✅ Cover stretches over the swim platform corners
✅ Extremely clean profile
✅ Fast daily deployment
✅ No straps hanging down the sides
✅ About a 30-second install
My priority is protecting the upholstery from sun, dust, pollen, bird droppings, dew and everyday exposure while making the cover so quick to use that I never have an excuse not to put it on.
This setup won’t be the preferred fitment for every boat owner, but for my personal boat it strikes the perfect balance between coverage, appearance, and speed.
If you’re looking for a daily-use cover rather than a traditional storage cover, that’s exactly what the SoftShell was designed for.
