We honor the life and legacy of Tatjana Wood, a groundbreaking colorist whose work helped define the visual identity of DC Comics from the late 1960s through the 1980s.

Born in Germany in 1926 and later immigrating to the United States, Wood became one of the few women working as a colorist on major superhero and horror titles during that era. Her contributions to Swamp Thing, Animal Man, and All-Star Comics, along with countless unforgettable covers, infused each page with depth, mood, and emotional resonance.

Through her distinctive use of color and atmosphere, Tatjana Wood shaped the look of a generation of comics and paved the way for artists who followed. Her influence endures in every panel she transformed and in the creative paths she helped open.
