Kelly has cast a Carbeth sweater by Katie Davies. And you'll never guess what yarn she's using: Nightshades by Harrisville Designs in the color VCR (marbled with green).

For those of you who know this pattern you know it's usually for a bulky yarn, not DK! For those of you who know Kelly, you won't be surprised she's playing with the gauge. She's using US 9 which is still a stitch with room for the Nightshades to expand.

If you're thinking of a Carbeth but would like a more traditional gauge, we suggest Turbine by Harrisville Designs.

Those who follow us closely will not be surprised that Susan made another Cotton Lino sweater, and that we get to borrow it for a few days!

The Pattern: Aros Sweater by PetiteKnit
The Yarn: Cotton Lino by The Wandering Flock (link below)

The rest of the story: Susan's sweater is the 4th size. She knit her Aros Sweater on US 5's, and used about 1/2 a skein of each color. Total yardage: 865 or 3 skeins.

In the background: White wrap with fringe is the Berlin Scarf by Susanne Müller in Fluff by The Wandering Flock (the link's below). Our sample used 5 skeins.

Dear One,

We just received some amazing news at the shop! Apparently, Yarnology is one of a handful of yarn shops nominated as Best Yarn Retailer in the country. It's a USA Today Ten Best Poll and you can vote for us, if you wish! The link's below, and you can vote once per day until mid-morning on September 28.

I realize these polls where you round up your friends and family to vote every day are a bit on the hokey side, but the fact that Yarnology was a large enough blip on someone's radar to merit a place in the lineup makes me a little verklempt. I'm not gonna lie to you.

It feels like a distinct possibility that one of you lovely readers nominated us. So--from the bottom of our wooly little hearts, thank you. We think you're fabulous, too.
