Reynolda Village is comprised of charming historic buildings which once supported the 1,067 acre estate of the R.J. The restored buildings now house unique stores, restaurants, services, and offices. These buildings were modeled after an English Village and included dairy barns, a cattle shed, school, post office, smokehouse, blacksmith shop, carriage house, central power and heating plant as well as cottages to house the family’s chauffeur and stenographer, the village’s school master, and the farm’s head dairyman and horticulturist. Reynolda Village is part of the Reynolda estate, which includes the world-class Reynolda House Museum of American Art and stunning Reynolda Gardens. Reynolda Village is adjacent to Wake Forest University, Graylyn International Conference Center, and the Buena Vista residential neighborhood in Winston-Salem, NC.

THEN & NOW | All Through the House

THEN: Built in 1912, this charming cottage was designed by Willard Northup and initially served as the post office for the Reynolda estate. It was originally centered in the entrance to Reynolda Village, but was later relocated to accommodate more vehicular traffic.

After 1919, the building's front rooms became a federal post office, where postmistress Mattie Frye sorted mail addressed simply to "Reynolda, NC." Today, much of Katharine's correspondence is preserved in the museum archives.

NOW: All Through the House is a little shop with big ideas…southern pottery to Simon Pearce glass…beautiful lamps to personal accessories. Whether you’re shopping for the bride-to-be or the perfect gift for any occasion, they have it all!

THEN & NOW | The Barn at Reynolda Village

THEN: Built in 1916, The Reynolda Village Dairy Barn was one of the first dairy barns in the country to feature a concrete floor, a groundbreaking innovation that helped reduce bacteria and keep milk fresh. The cows even drank the same spring-fed water as the village residents. After its days as a working dairy barn, the building served many purposes, housing shops and offices before its next chapter began.

NOW: Beautifully restored and reopened in 2016, the historic dairy barn is now one of Winston-Salem's most distinctive event venues. With its bright, elegant interior and picturesque setting, it's the perfect backdrop for weddings, corporate gatherings, and celebrations of all kinds, from ceremonies in the Formal Gardens to unforgettable receptions inside the barn.
