Today we did our annual blood collection for CAE (Caprine Arthritis-Encephalitis) or SRLV (Small Ruminant Lentivirus). Halloweena was very nervous so we had to also put her mom, Valentina, on the stand with her for moral support. Lol. Both girlies did great ❤️

Fingers crossed all tests come back negative! 🤞🏽

*Sigh* some chickens have the survival instincts of a fart. Rather than laying eggs in the nesting boxes, this hen had chosen the patio and planters 🙄 I do appreciate the rooster providing moral support as she paced around to find the perfect spot.

How does everyone manage Popillia japonica, "Japanese beetles," during the summer? I collect them daily and feed them to the chickens to hopefully train them to hunt them. These beetles are destroying the native plants, fruit trees and bushes. 😭
