We are full into budding season here at Wafler Nursery!

What is budding you say? Budding is a form of grafting. we do in our nursery. Bud grafting is a chip bud graft. We make a small chip into the rootstock and then place a variety bud from our bud wood into the chip on the rootstock. After we tape it together as shown! We will wait a few weeks before checking to see if the chip bud heals into the rootstock. That is when your gala, Honeycrisp, etc variety tree is formed! This is a VERY important process in our tree nursery.

With that being said, we still have rootstock available for 2028 custom pre bud ordering! This is when you get to pick the rootstock and variety you would like that best fits your farm! PLUS you get the best pricing🤩 Contact us today to learn more! Our deadline is August 21st.

We are counting down the days until we start budding rootstock in a few short weeks in our 2028 tree nursery!🍎

Now is the time to contact us about pre-bud custom orders for 2028‼️

We have 3️⃣ reasons why pre-bud custom ordering might be a great fit for your farm:

1️⃣Choose your variety rootstock combo. No need to worry about piecing together a block on multiple strains or rootstocks.

2️⃣Best Sizing. When we grade our trees out we make sure the largest trees we grew go to the customers who ordered earliest.

3️⃣Best Pricing. We understand that trees can be a costly investment. All tree orders placed before we finish budding the trees will get our Pre-Bud price which will be up to 11-15% less per tree than if you wait to order off our inventory.

*We can accept orders on rootstock until that rootstock sells out or until August
21st.

Out in our 2027 tree nursery we are cutting tops🍎

We cut the tops right above the bud to promote tree growth! Crazy to see how these look now in April compare to November when we dig them and they are a tree ready to be planted in your orchard the following spring!🍎
