I recently had the pleasure of working with Lisa Swenson Ruble's new fabric collection, "Nature Unfiltered" by Benartex fabrics...

I made a super fun jumbo tote bag covered in sparkling stars, little leaves, and tiny puddles.

The description on Benartex's website says it all..."In our busy world, it’s easy to overlook details in nature that we see everyday...nature at its best, unfiltered and bright."

Hello, my quilty peeps. My showcase of my postcard patterns for Villa Rosa Designs continues Head to my BLOG to skip the wait and see all (now 26!) cards I've had published so far!!

I'll be posting them in order of publication; next up is "Shear". It's 54" x 54" and is yardage based.

Swipe for additional colorways --->

I have had the pleasure of designing 4β€³ x 6β€³ postcards for Villa Rosa Designs for two years now . Head to my shop (link in bio) to purchase your copy with FREE domestic shipping. Signed copies are available upon request!

It's been such a great experience. The most surprising aspect of this format is condensing an ENTIRE quilt pattern into a 3.75" x 5.75" area...such a CHALLENGE when you're used to unlimited digital pages!!

Stay tuned for more designs to follow in the future!

If you are a fabric manufacturer who would like to have their fabric(s) featured in a cover quilt, please reach out via email. I’m always in search of fun & exciting fabrics!!

Take care and happy sewing & creating, my friends. Stay weird xo -R πŸ€ͺ

Hello, my quilty peeps. How have you been?

I'm currently working on an improv project based on my version of Tara Faughnan's "Give and Take" quilt.

I needed a project to distract myself from anxiousness & nervousness about attending the WI Quilt Show tomorrow . I have five (5!!!) quilts in the show and I'm super excited to see them displayed.

I've been busy off of social media recently, living life and enjoying being outside...

Nugget wrangling and nest box traffic control...

Gardening and preserving food...

Calf feeding and wrangling...

Lovingly and amusingly patching my husband's pants.

Take care and happy sewing & creating, my friends. Stay weird xo -R πŸ€ͺ

Hello, my quilty peeps! I placed all my blocks up on my design wall to check the vibe of this piece, and decided to proceed with vibes only for the rest of the design.

I have no goal with this piece. No final size, no initial vision, no limits except my imagination.

I've been embracing messiness and experimenting and non-perfection here recently...and I'm loving it.

Skinny stripey strips...are my new jam. Yummmm...jammmmm πŸ“

I'm enthusiastically continuing my adventures in the Japanese mending technique, "boro".

I have completed an entire 42" x 55" quilt top using (12) hand-stitched boro style panels. I'm in the process of slooowly hand quilting it.

I can't get enough of this technique!! It's quite an interesting technique...you should go google it immediately if you haven't already.

To make the panels, I start with a scrap piece of muslin for the base and add some some colorful fabric scraps, torn for a frayed edge. I stitched the pieces down with running stitches using a Sashiko-eque style with curves, ellipses, flowers...all different kinds of stitches.

I'm hoping to have the project done for a local quilt show in late November. I'll keep you posted!

Special thanks to my awesome friend, Christa for the adorable black kitty needle minder.

Have you ever made a Bargello style quilt? Would you like to learn how?

This one is a sample for an upcoming in-person class at my local awesome sauce Red Dot Quilt Supplies next month***.

It's a 22" x 32" mini quilt/wall hanging using only five (5) fat quarters (FQs).

It's a nice "dip your toes into" the Bargello technique size without committing to a whole bed size quilt like most Bargello patterns seem to be.

I made a lap size bargello about ten years ago, but found the size to be overwhelming with the eleventy million seams to match. This one is much more manageable and allows you to quickly check the technique off of your quilty bucket list.

***July 15, 11am-3pm at RDQS in Reedsburg, WI. Call the lovely Becky Baker to reserve your seat today!

I can now officially never again say that "I never win anything".

My 23" square "Primaveral" improv curve quilt won first place in this year's Great Wisconsin Quilt Show's Modern Mini Quilt Challenge.

I entered with a high goal of placing in the top 12, but my goal was surprisingly exceeded!!

Special thanks to for the 2030DC-G sewing machine that will soon be heading my way.

Background of the Challenge: The Great Wisconsin Quilt Show and Nancy Zieman Productions ninth-annual Modern Mini Quilt Challenge invited participants to stitch a 24-inch square, or smaller, modern mini in fabrics featuring a modern color palette and design.

I learned this technique in Maday's "Improv Curved Piecing Without Templates" class I took last year. 10/10 experience ⭐️

Take care and happy sewing & creating, my friends. Stay weird xo -R πŸ€ͺ
